Practicum Clinicians

AlliGrace Story, MS, CHES

I am currently a third year doctoral student in clinical psychology at Mississippi State University. Before working towards my PhD, I earned her masters degree in health promotion at MSU. To date, I have worked with clients who are in treatment for trauma, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, and interpersonal difficulties. Additionally, I have experience working with individuals from the LGBTQ+ community.

My approach to therapy

First and most importantly, the therapeutic relationship is at the center of how I approach therapy. This includes welcoming feedback and tailoring my approach to fit your specific needs. Having a strong therapeutic alliance can help not only to grow individually but also in your relationships with others.

In my work, I take an integrative and holistic approach. Because different modalities of therapy have their own advantages and disadvantages, it is important to me to incorporate elements of various modalities. I often incorporate mindfulness-based techniques, cognitive-behavioral techniques, strengths-based approaches, and emotion-focused approaches. Using these approaches can help us understand what underlying factors impact our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.

Lastly, a person’s environment can have a strong effect on their mental health, so it is important to me to understand how each individual’s cultural, social, home, and work/school environments play a role in their mental health.
